Experience the French atmosphere in Alphen aan den Rijn!

To Alphen aan den Rijn? Yes, a place where there is plenty to do and see. As far as Listed is concerned it is the ideal base for discovering the watery surroundings and beautiful nature of the Green Heart. Cycling here is a feast so beautiful. Or sailing on the many rivers. Powerful. But the beach at Katwijk is only half an hour away. And would you like to go shopping or sniff up some culture? The cities of The Hague, Gouda, Leiden or Amsterdam are close by. Prefer to take the train? The station is within walking distance of the hotel. Discovering the surroundings in one day is really too short. Our tip: stay the night at the Stadsherberg. Perfect for a wonderful break!

Eating, drinking and staying overnight at the Stadsherberg.
Once a headmaster's house, now a boutique hotel and restaurant. The building initially served as the home of the headmaster of the primary school of what was then still called Aarlanderveen. Then, in 1918, Aarlanderveen was merged with Oudshoorn and Alphen to form the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn. Over a hundred years and various uses, Niels and Laura Aben have transformed the building with love and attention into a modern inn with a luxurious twist, in which they have brought back the warm atmosphere of yesteryear. De Stadsherberg is a meeting place where everyone, from young to old, is welcome to eat, drink and stay the night. Alone or together.

Welcome to Niels and Laura!
Niels and Laura Aben, the owners of the Stadsherberg, have years of hospitality experience in France. And that shows. Entering the hotel means being warmly welcomed and the ambiance immediately feels very nice. Soft pastel shades, nice seating areas, a nice bar and, when the weather is nice, a lovely outdoor patio. A piece of France in the Netherlands as far as we are concerned. And wherever you sit, this is a good place for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, a good conversation, your favourite book, or for a game. Fancy some apple pie? Do it! In any case, everything here - breakfast, lunch, drinks and dinner - is prepared with love and attention. Niels, Laura and their team offer you a feeling of home with the hospitality and personal attention of an old inn and the luxury and comfort of a modern boutique hotel. You are welcome!

In the hotel rooms, you can completely relax. Here, too, the pleasant pastel shades give each room a certain softness. None of the eleven rooms is the same. But whichever one you choose, you will want for nothing: wonderful Swiss Sense beds, specially made for the Stadsherberg, nice little niches, luxurious bathroom, semi-professional Nespresso machine for coffee and tea, flat-screen television and some rooms even have a roof terrace. On the ground floor, there are three spacious rooms that are easily accessible. The romantic comfort rooms can be found on the top floor. Looking for a room with a bit more space? Then book the deluxe room of up to 40 m2. Staying the night with the family? Then choose the family room where the children sleep in a sturdy bunk bed.

The terrace and restaurant is open from early morning until late at night and is a cosy place for a cappuccino with home-made cake in the morning, a lunch or a drink in the afternoon. So whether you're dropping by for a business morning meeting, or a friend's drink in the sun, they have the perfect drink for you. In the evening, the passionate chefs will fill your table with a tasting of delicious and surprising fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, which you share with your table mates. So no menu, but be surprised. Sundays are different. They serve breakfast and lunch and regularly organise fun activities. Think wine tastings, high-tea, high-wine, music days and table d'hotes. More information about the Stadsherberg can be found at here.
