You probably recognise it; it's your turn to arrange a girls' day out and you just don't know what to do. Maybe we can inspire you. Because this is a really fun idea: design your own leather bag!
Today we get to take a look at the studio of Jeannemiek's Bag Factory in Zeist.
In her spacious and bright studio, we are welcomed with a big smile by Jeannemiek Bakker. Fine here, just by the smell of leather, a cupboard full of leather accessories, beautiful rolls of coloured leather, a rack full of wonderful bags, a work table, belts and much more.
Jeannemiek makes coffee for us and immediately starts telling us: "You know the situation, you're young, you want to study and you have to make a choice". At the time, Jeannemiek chose to study law in Utrecht. After her studies, she started her career as a lawyer and she still has beautiful assignments today.
"But along the way you sometimes find out that you have several passions." Says Jeannemiek. And she has that passion. A passion for everything that has to do with leather. Shoes, bags, belts, you name it. So she decided to take the plunge and start a course in leather bag making in Arnhem.
After successfully completing this, her own label De Tassenfabriek soon followed.
How can we describe the style? Tough, feminine, practical with a contemporary look. When we walk around during the conversation, we are quickly inspired and seduced. The materials we work with have a beautiful structure, are solid, and come in various beautiful designs and colours.
And now it comes: to share her passion, she offers the possibility to follow workshops to make your own bag, belt or other accessory. The aim is to make something unique that suits you, with materials you have chosen yourself and a little help from Jeannemiek, in a pleasant atmosphere.
So you and your friends can have a fun day together, and leave with a unique item that you made yourself, how nice is that!
