Always busy and too little time together? High time for a few days away to Villa Verde. A Listed pearl for friends, family or just the two of you. Two holiday homes on the edge of Maastricht. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet, the Limburg hills and the nature of the Bunderbos, while still being very close to Maastricht.
We are met by Danielle. Proud owner of Villa Verde.
Friday afternoon... On to Villa Verde in Bunde, time for some quality time together. Danielle is waiting for us. Together with Michael, they are the proud owners of Villa Verde. With a smile on her face she leads us around the grounds and through the two holiday cottages. Here you can enjoy the peace, nature and the green Bunderbos. On the edge of Maastricht, Meerssen & Valkenburg. As far as we are concerned, a piece of France in the Netherlands.
There is plenty of room to live and cook indoors and outdoors. On request there is a Big Green Egg and a wood-fired pizza oven ready for you. They are also happy to light the hot tub for you. In addition to your own private terrace at the holiday home, there is a communal playing field/meadow with a large football goal and a hammock, among other things. As far as we are concerned, this is the place to be for a few days of relaxed enjoyment!
Green (Verde) is the central theme here, and together with Danielle, Michael runs Villa Verde with a very personal philosophy. When building the two holiday homes (1×4 and 1×6 persons) they asked themselves the very simple question, would we want to live there ourselves? That is how they built and furnished it. Think, for example, of dream beds made of bio-cotton, a kitchen that really is equipped with all modern conveniences and where the finest cookbooks are waiting for you. The houses are sustainably built and furnished, and are, for example, cooled and heated via water pump energy.
Plan certainly just like us for a pizza evening. You get the ingredients yourself in the village. Danielle and Michael (the proud owners of Villa Verde) will prepare the dough for you. Listed tip: ask them for the recipe for their favourite flammkuchen, which is too good! It's good to know that beautiful wines are for sale on site. They are ready for you, cool or warm, and you will find ice cubes in the freezer. There you will also find chocolate rolls and croissants for breakfast.
Why go to Bunde and the surrounding area?
Villa Verde is a perfect starting point for walking and cycling in the South Limburg landscape, the beautiful Bunderbos is only 300 metres away. If you want to go to Maastricht for a day, take the train (200 metres walk) and within 5 minutes you are in the heart of Maastricht or take the cycle route (9 km) via the new 'Groene Loper' (route over the 'old' A2).
And if you want to have a drink or dinner somewhere, there are a number of trendy hotspots in the area. Daniëlle and Michael are happy to share them with you. Inspired? Check availability at Villa Verde and plan your trip to the lovely South Limburg...
Listed Tip: Aon 't Bat in Eijsden, take a seat on the terrace on the Maas and enjoy the view of Belgium and a delicious glass of wine, flan, lunch or ice cream. And the service gets a big ten from us, what a nice team that is. And be sure to stop by the ENCI quarry in Maastricht. A beautiful example of how an industrial area has been returned to nature.
