Imagine yourself for a moment on the set of Downton Abbey and visit Villa Rams Woerthe. Built in 1899, it belongs to the Dutch variant of Jugendstil and Art Nouveau. It is not a museum, but a Museum House and that means touching is allowed. Dagblad De Stentor described a visit to Rams Woerthe this way at the time: "Sit down in the richly decorated dining room of the Tromp Masters and imagine yourself in 1900, on the set of Steenwijk's own 'Downton Abbey'. Imagine how in a moment the servants, through a side door, will rush in; their arms full of trays of food. What's on the plate this evening? Rissoles of sweetbreads, roast chicks with apricots, shipping lobsters and cabinet pudding, of course. After dessert, the men belly up in the next room, the Men's Room, with a good brandy under their noses and a cigar in their heads. And once the meal has subsided a little, there is dancing. Waltz, polka, polonaise maestro!". Slip into one of those classic armchairs, pull open a cupboard or drawer, feel the evergreens in the orangery. No attendant to give you a slap on the wrist. On the contrary, the many volunteers in the house enhance the experience with extra stories, fun facts". And that's exactly how it is, you are back in time for a moment here.

We hope you enjoy discovering Steenwijk and its surroundings.
