Badhuis Hotel

Utrecht, the Netherlands

Sleep and eat in a piece of Utrecht history

Yes, we know this place from Listed. We drove by it several times and each time we were enchanted. The nostalgia of the former bathhouse has been brought back, what a feast! Where once the 'lifeguard' banged on the doors: "Hurry up, hurry up, there are still more people waiting and... you won't get any cleaner...", now you have all the time in the world to enjoy the hotel and restaurant. The Badhuis dates from 1927 and was built in the style of the Amsterdam School and designed at the time by Petrus Johannes Houtzagers. The golden letters on the facade with rosettes have been restored and the history can be found throughout the building.

The hotel is situated between the Tuinwijk and Vogelenbuurt districts on a lively square, just a 10-minute walk from the city centre. Students and residents cycle back and forth along the Willem van Noortplein. On their way to work or study, to do their shopping or to have a drink on a terrace. And you can watch all this from your lazy bed/hangout in the window of your room in the Badhuis hotel. Add to that the beautiful trees surrounding the hotel and the view is both vibrant and soothing.

A beautiful boutique hotel located on the first floor. In the design, as much use as possible was made of the skills of companies and individuals from the region. For instance, Utrecht-based designer Working Bert has given each room its own signature. The lounge is equipped with all conveniences. You can make coffee or tea, there are various drinks and every now and then a snack, taste it! Totally contemporary is that the hotel is completely contactless, you check in and out via your mobile and get lots of information about must do's and must visits in the area. The nice thing about the Badhuis Hotel is that you have everything within reach. You can start the Waterlinie cycle route within 7 minutes, walk along the Singel within 4 minutes or stand under the Dom tower within 8 minutes. There are also many cosy local restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity, where you will feel like a local among the locals.
