Experience history and enjoy luxury and ultimate hospitality
Sometimes it's just right! Feelings of being back in time, wonderful smells, stylish decoration and hospitality as you would expect from a luxury Bed and Breakfast. We are warmly welcomed by Jaap and Marja in the beautiful hall with stained-glass windows, they are the proud owners of B&B de Stadssingel in Steenwijk.
This national monument from 1886 was once a doctor's surgery and is now an atmospheric Bed and Breakfast with the feel of a luxury Boutique Hotel. The four beautiful rooms Old Romance, Love Bird, Little Green and Shabby Chic all have their own look and feel. There is certainly something to choose from, but whichever room it becomes, Jaap and Marja will do everything to make it an unforgettable stay.
They understand the art of hospitality that is 'invisible', a matter of feeling, so to speak... Whether you want to surprise your loved one with a romantic package or are ready to enjoy a few days in a peaceful, historic, cultural and green environment, this is the place to be, because a package can be tailor-made for you, if you wish. Breakfast at B&B de Stadssingel is a real feast and is prepared with all the care you could want to start each day with! And if you're looking for something tasty and/or special for dinner, there are plenty of good restaurants in the area. Marja and Jaap will be happy to advise you.
Steenwijk is an ancient fortified town located in the Kop van Overijssel. Fun fact is that because of its strategic location, it played an important role in the 80-year war, among others. The canals and city walls can still be admired. Take a city walk with a city guide and learn all about Steenwijk's history, well worthwhile. Be sure to visit Villa Rams Woerthe in Steenwijk. A beautiful villa from 1899. Built for the wealthy Tromp Meesters family and now on display as a museum. B&B de Stadssingel is also an ideal base for wonderful cycling trips. Cycle along the water and through forests and enjoy the beautiful nature around Steenwijk. Take a break for coffee or lunch in one of the cosy villages in the area such as Blokzijl, Vollenhove and, of course, Giethoorn, known as the "Venice of the North" with its canals and punters and located just 20 minutes by bike from the B&B. Listed tip: Download the app "nodes" and put together your ideal cycling route yourself.
National Park the Weerribben/Wieden is located in the backyard of Steenwijk and Giethoorn. Whether you want to cycle, walk or sail in a sloop, everything is possible. And if, after all this natural beauty, you come home to the Stadssingel tired and content, you can relax in the conservatory or in the greenery of the beautiful garden adjoining the Rams Woerthe park, which is more than worth the diversions.
