Enjoying the warm hospitality at Dam Square 

Where there used to be an inn and luxury residence in a listed building dating back to 1650, hospitality now prevails at Boutique Suites The Four Patricians. A luxury B&B with four boutique suites in Middelburg. Opened in 2019, located on Dam Square and within a few minutes' walk you are in the heart of the city centre.

The suites are on the 1st floor and can be reached by stairs or lift. Each has its own style and interior, comfortable Auping beds and fine bathrooms. In hot weather, you can use the air conditioning. The three suites at the front overlook Dam Square and have a bathroom with walk-in shower. The last suite is a special room due to its quiet location on the alley 'Pauwpoort'. It has a bathroom with walk-in shower and bathtub. The capital of Zeeland, Middelburg, has a rich past that is still well reflected today. The town has over 1,100 monuments, but its many squares, shops, restaurants and events make it more than worth a visit. Middelburg was once the middle castle on the (peninsular) island of Walcheren. So it is not difficult to guess where the name comes from. The town developed into a real trading town with city rights and was the second most important city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam during the VOC era. Many buildings in the centre of Middelburg still remind us of this period. As mentioned, Middelburg has many national monuments. During a bombing raid in World War II, the town suffered greatly, but was (almost) completely rebuilt afterwards. The best-known monuments in Middelburg are the Town Hall and the Abbey. 

The villages of Zoutelande, Vlissingen, Veere and Domburg are Zeeland's tourist attractions and easily accessible from the B&B. But there is so much more to discover on Walcheren and Zeeland.
