The nicest station in the Netherlands

In Uithoorn, we find Het Spoorhuis on the river Amstel, in a beautiful monumental station building from 1912. A fine place for a drink, lunch, high-tea or dinner, but you can also go there for a business meeting or training. Whatever your purpose, hostess Irene and hosts Michel and Erik do everything to pamper you.

The rooms of the B&B exceed all our expectations. We walk up the somewhat steep stairs of this monumental building to see the little stations (rooms), which are spread over two floors. Five beautiful, spacious rooms with a story behind every door. Each room has its own signature, with two rooms also having an authentic gas fire and Station Zuid also a balcony. The 'Central Station' can safely be called a honeymoon suite with a lovely bath. The use of anthracite gives the room a special appearance, a place to retreat to together.

In the atmospheric restaurant, there are always a number of chef's specials on the menu, in addition to the regular dishes. The lunch menu offers plenty of options for a quick snack or an extensive work or relaxation lunch. Always honest, fresh and tasty.

Nice to know that from Uithoorn you can easily reach Aalsmeer to visit the largest flower auction in the Netherlands, Royal Flora Holland. Or pay a visit to the inspiring Flower Art Museum. And of course, the B&B is an excellent base for a visit to the city of Amsterdam, which is only 15 km away from Uithoorn.

Furthermore, the historical fortifications of Amsterdam are known as Unesco World Heritage Sites and a number of these old forts can be found in the vicinity of Uithoorn, such as Fort de Drecht, de Kwakel and Uithoorn. Prefer a day of relaxation? Then hire a sloop and sail over the Amstel River to one of the many lakes.
