LUTTIK, the Fnidsen and more... What fun is Alkmaar!

Walking with an overnight bag through the streets of Alkmaar on your way to LUTTIK, you are already short of eyes. From the cosy shopping street Fnidsen with several specialty shops you walk in the direction of the canal and you will find LUTTIK on the corner opposite the idyllic bridge Luttik-Ouddorp. A boutique hotel, coffee bar and concept store all in one, in a beautiful historic building on the canal. Here you can stay in one of the six bright rooms. You can drink coffee, relax, catch up with friends, work and play games in the coffee bar. And you can find products made from natural materials and products with an environmental and/or socially responsible background in the concept store.

Fun fact: What makes LUTTIK so unique is that everything used, hung or displayed in the hotel, coffee bar and concept store is for sale. The lamps, the crockery, the shampoo, the bed linen, the coffee beans, the home accessories... yes, even the furniture!

Welcome to Geert and Hester! Welcome at LUTTIK.
After living and working in Curaçao for nine years, Geert and Hester were looking for a new challenge. On Curaçao, they were the owners of two small, special car rental companies: Ducks United Curaçao and 4×4 Rental Curaçao. But a new adventure beckoned and so they decided to look for a special property in the Netherlands to unleash their creativity. In Alkmaar, they discovered the beautiful century-old premises of 'De Glazenier'. For them, the perfect place to turn the boutique hotel, coffee bar and concept store that already existed in their minds into reality! And so, together with their two children, they have been back in the Netherlands since summer 2019.

About LUTTIK they say themselves "We have created a place that fits who we are, what we like and what we love. So when you come to stay with us, drink coffee or go shopping, you are actually visiting us. A visit to the personal, informal atmosphere and style that suits us. And we hope and assume that there are many more people to whom this atmosphere and style suits".

Coffee with a mission!
The LUTTIK coffee bar is a place where you can drink really good coffee. The Brazilian beans are roasted by the Dutch company Boot Koffie in the Netherlands using traditional methods. Boot Koffie's mission is to make everyone happy with the taste of coffee, to make the name of the coffee farmer known and to help create dignified living conditions on the coffee plantation. Boot Koffie pays the coffee farmers in developing countries a fair price for their beans.

Sleeping or enjoying the view?
The original, somewhat steep wooden stairs lead to the hotel rooms. All six are beautiful and furnished with love. Light, atmospheric, spacious and full of things you would really like to have yourself: from the sheepskin on the chair to the glass vase with dried flowers. From the windows, you have a beautiful view of the canal and the city centre of Alkmaar. A TV is not available, but you can make free use of fast WIFI in the room and of an IPad-pro to watch television and/or films.

You sleep on the lovely king-size bed of Hästens. Under a soft and airy down duvet and crisp white bed linen. Five rooms have a large freestanding bath and all six rooms have a nice spacious walk-in rain shower. In the bathroom soft cotton towels of House in Style and Marie Stella Maris care products are waiting for you. The minibar in the room is filled with red wine, chilled white wine, beer, sparkling water, flat water, apple juice and ginger ale. Please inform Geert or Hester in the morning which drinks you have used. Prefer to bring your own drink? No problem at all! Just put them in the fridge. Two of the six rooms have a cosy sofa bed that can be transformed into a bed for two children (up to 16 years of age). An extra baby bed can be placed in the room.

Breakfast in your room, on the roof terrace, in the coffee bar or ...
Of course you can have breakfast when you stay at LUTTIK. Breakfast is not included. You can choose how your breakfast will look like: A delicious full breakfast, a quick simple breakfast or even nothing at all. You will find the breakfast menu in your room. In principle, breakfast is brought to your room in a picnic basket (between 8:00 and 10:30), but if you prefer breakfast in the coffee bar, this is also possible. Or in summer on the terrace at the canal or on the small, cosy roof terrace.

Late check-out, tip for parking and remember the rental bike
Do you feel like enjoying the luxury of your hotel room a bit longer (until 14:30)? Then book a late check out with your booking. The costs of a late check out are 35 Euros per room. Parking is best in the parking garage Schelphoek, about 5 minutes walk. Tip: buy your exit ticket at LUTTIK, it costs 10 Euros per day. Fancy a bike ride? Book them directly when you make your reservation, then they will make sure there is a bike ready for you during your stay.

Why Alkmaar? Listed tips!
LUTTIK is located right in the centre of Alkmaar, so everything is within reach. When you step out of the door, be sure to walk to The Fnidsen. An old shopping street in the medieval centre full of trendy boutiques, vintage shops, a great flower shop, coffee shops, the cosiest greengrocer, baker and lunch shops. This street runs from the Mient to the Bierkade and, in our opinion, is one of the cosiest shopping streets in Alkmaar.

Really walk in at Florist's shop van Assem. What a lovely shop. Full of colour and fragrance. It is around the corner from Luttik and can be found at Fnidsen 66. Are you there around Christmas time? Here you will find the most beautiful baubles!

What you should also not miss is Together in the Kitchen. A delicatessen shop full of flavour and fragrance and a household name in Alkmaar for over 10 years.
